From the Dean’s Desk….
No, I am not talking about your readiness for marriage! Not usually inclined to talk too much about myself, my career, or my overall life experience, I find it hard not to share something of my recent trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan for two University of Michigan football games. As for many alumni, a visit back to campus is always nostalgic and elevating, reflecting on the past, assessing physical changes to familiar campus spots, and having some few moments to connect with current students. A Michigan football game includes between 105,000 and 110,000 fans (over 300 consecutive games with over 100,000!), including a usual 15-20,000 STUDENTS sitting together, regaled in Maize and Blue, singing the “Victors,” and interacting with band, dancers and cheer teams. In the end, it’s something more than the game itself…and what I saw last month reminded me of student “ENGAGEMENT” and why it is so vital to your own success on your respective college campuses.
